Clearly the "Cadillac" of all development platforms today, Microsoft .NET encompasses several technologies. There are two basic "languages" written under the .NET umbrella: VB.NET and C#. XML is a markup language which was perfected over the course of the last few years as a wonderfully database and proprietary ETL format independant method of transferring data. Custom Software Design Group has created some incredibly complex XML-based processes for receiving and sending data (usually between you and your clients or a vendor/provider).
